Volunteer
How do I become a Habitat for Humanity Volunteer? The first step to volunteering is to attend an orientation where you will fill out an application, sign a waiver of liability, learn about site safety, gain knowledge of Habitat for Humanity International, as well as updates with the Seattle/South King County affiliate.
Try it out
If you are an individual or group interested in the Habitat experience, that is wonderful! After the volunteer orientation, we will contact you to schedule a time out on the job site. Habitat for Humanity is an open community, always looking for those interested in joining!
To meet our goal of ending substandard housing, Habitat depends on the energy and time of volunteers for office support, committee work and home construction. We welcome volunteers of all skill levels and interests into our Habitat family. The best value and the most powerful contribution come from the volunteer (skilled in construction or not) who wants to make a difference in the community.

Most of our volunteer positions do not require previous experience. Committees include family selection, family resources and training, faith relations, public relations, site acquisition and development, youth, and fundraising. Most committees meet regularly (once a month/quarter) and we ask for at least a one year commitment from volunteers interested in serving on a committee. Construction volunteers may serve for one day or make a more long-term commitment. Opportunities are also available for volunteers interested in working in our Tukwila office. All children 16-17 years of age that participate in Habitat construction must have an adult chaperone accompany them on the work site for the day. No children under the age of 16 are allowed on the jobsite. Please contact our office for ideas on ways youth younger than 16 may get involved.
