Volunteer with Habitat!

Interest.  Enthusiasm.  Commitment.  Compassion.  These are the qualities that Habitat volunteers bring to the table.  We know, that by coming together, bringing our time, energy and talent, we will accomplish great things.  We can end substandard housing.  Habitat welcomes volunteers of all skills levels and interest into our Habitat family.  The best value and the most powerful contribution come from the volunteer who wants to make a difference in the community.  Volunteers can help Habitat in an abundance of ways.

Construction Volunteers

Build homes every Wednesday through Saturday.  Skilled and unskilled workers, crew leaders and job site hosts are needed.

Home Improvement Outlet Volunteers

Assist customers, stock shelves and help keep the Outlet store clean and organized. 

Office Volunteers

Greet visitors, answer phones, thank donors, input data, research opportunities and keep our office running smoothly. 

Committee/Team Volunteers

Support vital aspects of Habitat’s program including fundraising, marketing, communications, faith relations, family selection, land acquisition and youth involvement. 

Family Support Volunteers

Mentor a partner family, working alongside them as they build their house and offering support to them throughout the process. 

Event Support Volunteers

Assist staff in designing, implementing and improving fundraising and friendraising events.  

Green Team Volunteers

Propel changes in our building practices toward increased levels of sustainability. 

Translators, Photographers, Writers, Videographers

Increase our ability to spread Habitat’s message.

How do I become a Habitat for Humanity Volunteer?

The first step to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Seattle/South King County is to register and complete an on-line application. Next, attend a one-hour in-person volunteer orientation or complete our on-line orientation.

Getting Started – Three Easy Steps

1. Register:

Click on Volunteer UP and sign up under “I am a New Volunteer.” Fill in the required fields of the application.

2. Attend an in-person orientation or complete our on-line orientation and safety training:

It is important to us that volunteers understand the mission of Habitat for Humanity and become familiar with basic construction safety before beginning to volunteer.

Once you complete the registration, please:

• Sign yourself up for an in-person volunteer orientation using Volunteer UP. In-person orientations are held three times each month in Seattle, Tukwila and Kent. Click on our calendar of events to find out when the next volunteer orientation will be held.

• Complete our on-line orientation and on-line construction safety video.

3. Schedule your volunteer day at the construction site of your choice or at the Home Improvement Outlet:
